JOB SUMMARY Leads the Shift Managers and Production Crews to ensure the achievement of success in the Company’s production operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the production processes of the Company to ensure conformity with quality standards, customer specifications and that delivery deadlines are met.
  • Ensure that industrial relations are practiced in accordance with the collective agreements for unionized employees.
  • Liaise with Planning and Sales to ensure internal production requirements are communicated to the Shift Managers within the stipulated time frames.
  • Ensure adherence to the ISO 9001 procedures for all manufacturing and production processes.
  • Liaise with the Preprint Services department to ensure co-operation with production personnel.
  • Achieve budget targets in terms of performance and cost.
  • Maintain or surpass the targets set for waste management.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in production processes so that maximum efficiency and quality standards are achieved.
  • Identify training requirements for all staff in direct and indirect reporting relationships in order to maximize labour input.
  • Ensure that the Company's safety rules and regulations and established safe working practices are complied with on the factory floor and immediate environs.
  • Ensure all quality procedures are followed and checklists are completed and signed off.
  • Develop statistical process control systems (SPC) to ensure that all the Company’s targets are met.
  • Ensure that housekeeping and good manufacturing practices are maintained to the highest standard at all times.
  • Motivate staff to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead the production process in the absence of the Plant Manager.
  • Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Manufacturing, Process Management or Engineering Discipline and seven (7) years similar experience,  OR
  • At least 12 years Managerial/supervisory experience in the Manufacturing Industry. Experience with Industrial Relations and Unions.

  • Ability to liaise at all levels
  • Extraordinary organization skills
  • A team player - A mentor and coach.
  • Familiar with ISO Standards and Procedures.
  • Familiar with Manufacturing Safety Standards
