Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Manager, Nutrition and Dietetics at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA).
MANAGER, NUTRITION AND DIETETICS
The Manager, Nutrition and Dietetics Formulation of strategic plans for nutrition and dietetic services. Responsible for budget preparation and control, and fiscal accountability for the performance of the department. Coordinates and integrates administrative and clinical aspects of nutritional care to ensure that cost effective and efficient services are maintained. Designs and implements quality assurance programmes for dietetic services. Establishes criteria and monitors performance of contracted food/dietetic services.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinates nutrition and dietetic services throughout the institution.
- Develops and maintain the philosophy and mission of the department.
- Develops budgetary proposal, manage and control fiscal, physical and human resources.
- Establishes guidelines for formulation and updating or administrative and therapeutic policies and procedures for the department.
- Compiles and utilises pertinent operational data to improve efficiency and quality of the Nutrition and Dietetic Services.
- Establishes and maintains effective inter and intra-departmental communications and relationships.
- Liaises with other department heads regarding technical and administrative aspects of nutrition and dietetic services.
- Attends hospital staff conferences and transmit information to nutrition and dietetics staff regarding new developments and trends.
- Participates in recruitment of nutrition and dietetic personnel.
- Ensures performance appraisals are conducted and plans for staff development are implemented.
- Establishes criteria for contracted food/dietetic services.
- Participates in evaluating and selecting food/dietetic services contractors.
- Monitors performance of food/dietetic services contractors.
- Identifies, implements and monitors income generating activities for the department.
- Develops workload standards and productivity measures.
- Designs and implements a quality assurance programmes.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure delivery of quality services.
- Plans and implements promotional and public relations programmes in collaboration with the Public Relations Officer.
- Performs other related duties as directed by the appropriate organisational relationships.
Minimum Training and Experience:
- A Bachelor Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or Dietetics with an integrated or postgraduate dietetic internship.
- MSc Food Service Administration or MA Business Administration.
- Registration with the Council for the Professions Related to Medicine in Trinidad & Tobago.
- Five (5) years full-time experience in a similar field in a recognised large sized institution.
- Evidence of continuing professional development during the past three (3) years.
Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
