Senior Pensions Analyst

About the FSC:

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) is an integrated Financial Services regulator. Our mission is to regulate and supervise the Securities, Insurance and Private Pensions industries for the protection of their users thereby enhancing public confidence through the efforts of a competent workforce.

The FSC has an immediate opening for the position of Senior Pensions Analyst.

Position Summary:

Administering the development and execution of supervisory programmes as well as reports and discussion papers by their Direct Reports to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, adherence to specified timelines, and compliance with internal procedures and legislative requirements. Providing strategic and operational recommendations regarding business process improvements, execution of the FSC’s mandate, as well as establishing and promoting best practice standards both internally and by industry stakeholders.  

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and advising on recommendations to address potential risks, financial problems and statutory compliance issues identified by Direct Reports after review of actuarial reports, business plans, financial statements and other statutory filings or submissions.
  • Reviewing the adequacy and effectiveness of corrective actions taken by examined institutions in response to supervisory strategies employed by the FSC for risk mitigation.
  • Planning and executing examinations, stress testing, and technical reviews while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and legislative requirements. 
  • Ensuring that key trends are researched and providing advice and recommendations for the development and amendment of legislation, bulletins, guidelines, procedures and policy decisions.
  • Identifying and designing developmental programmes and operational mechanisms to aide Direct Reports, in conjunction with other Senior Pensions Analysts, to improve efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
  • Conducting performance management programmes for Direct Reports including annual performance evaluations on a timely basis.
  • Providing relevant information to the Accounts Department to facilitate invoicing of fees.
  • Conducting reviews of reports and deliverables for relevant consultants to ensure project standards are met.
  • Review applications and associated documents and respond to public, industry and government needs as they arise.
  •  

 Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  •  A Master’s Degree or its equivalent professional certification in disciplines such as: Actuarial Science, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Wealth Management and Business.
  • Knowledge of the relevant Acts relating to the industries regulated and supervised by the FSC.
  • Knowledge of Data Analysis and professional certification in the subject area would be an asset.
  • The job requires at least 5 years relevant work experience in a comparable position and business/work environment such as: securities, insurance or pension regulated institutions.
