OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE

  • Works closely with the President to develop the company’s strategy, secure and grow the organization’s value. 
  • Provides investment and financial management of the NGC GREEN Company’s medium to long-term investments, sources and secures financing, manages the financial operations of the Company
  • Prepares financial statements in accordance with standards and regulations, engages in financial planning, performance management and implementing systems, controls, and processes to secure the Company’s assets

FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitates in collaboration with the President and Senior Leaders, in the development of the Company’s strategy and to guide the green agenda for the NGC Group of Companies.
  • Works with the President and Executive Leadership team on strategy development and execution of strategies to proactively drive economic value creation for the NGC GREEN Company. 
  • Provides leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short- and long-term strategic objectives and provides strategic recommendations to the President and members of the executive leadership team.
  • Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization. 
  • Develops finance organizational strategies by establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives. 
  • Manages the full range of finance functions including, accounting and reporting, budgeting, business monitoring and performance management, securing financing, treasury management, debt management, credit management, risk management, tax management, investor relations and strategy development and support. 
  • Oversees the budgeting and forecasting process for the NGC GREEN Company including long range planning and getting the annual plans for company approved by Board.
  • Establishes, administers, and maintains policies, systems and procedures for the efficient and effective delivery of the investment functions of the NGC GREEN Company in accordance with investment standards. 
  • Presents investment findings/recommendations to the members of the Finance and Investment Committee and/or Board of Directors monthly or as required. 
  • Determines and analyses the investment/financial and other operational risk exposures faced by the Company and recommends appropriate risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Plans implements and executes new business development strategy and explores new markets for potential new business. 
  • Sets targets for revenue generation for contracted customers and ensures that targets for new business revenue generation are met. 
  • Ensures required governance procedures are adhered to including corporate approvals where applicable for all commercial activities and ensures all commercial policies, procedures and processes are aligned with company and national guidelines to ensure compliance. 
  • Negotiates and ensures execution of new contracts and effective contractual management systems are in place to ensure adherence to contractual obligations. 
  • Develops enhancements or improvements to the existing commercial management portfolio by remaining current with industry trends, market activities, and competitor information. 
  • Builds and manages relationships with customers and industry leaders to strengthen relationship networks within the industry. 
  • Ensure relevant factors are considered to support negotiation strategy and contracting process for extensions of existing contracts or new business development initiatives. 
  • Resolves customer contractual and account requirements in a timely manner to mitigate potential customer claims and strengthen the company brand as an agile and responsive organisation. 
  • Proactively conducts strategic account reviews with all assigned customers on a regular basis to evaluate service needs and usage trends. 
  • Performs economic and financial due diligence on potential investment opportunities identified by the Commercial and Business Development Departments. Analyses investment/financial data and other information and provides appropriate recommendations to facilitate timely and informed decision making 
  • Monitor performance of NGC GREEN ‘s investments in Non-Operated Assets and identifies value creation opportunities. Provides investment/financial analysis support to the Company in the evaluation of various value-creation opportunities. 
  • In collaboration with NGC monitors the investment performance of NGC GREEN’s Pension Fund Plan and NGC GREEN’s Employees Savings Plan in accordance with the respective Investment Policy Statements, on a quarterly basis. 
  • Liaises with external agencies on investment-related matters pertaining to the Company.
  • Executes any other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for the position are:

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) OR a First Degree in Accounting or in any related field of study OR First degree preferably with a concentration in Finance OR 
  • MBA or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ technical, professional experience in investment/finance environment with a focus in Green Energy Space of which five (5) years should be at a senior leadership level. Commercial/ business development experience will be an asset. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge of:

  • Economic, financial and investment theory 
  • In-depth knowledge of financial modelling and valuation
  • Sound working knowledge of alternative asset classes including hedge funds, private equity and real estate. 
  • Familiarity with local, regional and international markets including equity and bond markets and ability to understand and discuss investments and their respective performance. 
  • Keen understanding of the energy industry, renewable energy, green agenda and the global green energy trends.
