Senior Maintenence Technician

JOB SUMMARY

• The holder of this position will ensure that work orders (either Preventative or Corrective Maintenance), generated by the Preventative Maintenance Office or the Manager, are completed effectively, and on a timely basis with documentation. The Senior Maintenance Technician also assists shift technicians with completion of work orders to minimize downtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to update database with information regarding the status of assigned work orders.
• Complete paperwork to document work completed and update the database with work order statuses.
• Clean work areas for staff safety and building maintenance.
• Perform equipment cleaning, adjustment, lubrication, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Overhaul machines by diagnosing problems, repairing or replacing damaged parts, and ensuring proper repair procedures.
•  Conduct preventive maintenance with full adherence to checklists and reference repair history.
•  Ensure all repairs are tested and functioning to acceptable standards after completion.
• Communicate work status, critical spare parts needs, and maintenance issues with the PM office and Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain critical spare parts inventory and monitor spare parts usage and costs for equipment.
• Whether diagnosing the problem, carrying out the repair work or changing spare parts, reference must be made to the history of repairs carried out on the machinery/equipment. The technician also ensures that the problems are detected, analyzed and the proper repair procedure is carried out.
• All maintenance staff should remain on duty until all the incoming staff arrives and a proper handover is carried out when the relevant notations are highlighted in the maintenance register.
• Where a job us not fully completed or not repaired using the correct spare parts, this must be noted and pointed out to the P.M Office in every such event.
• After every repair work, the machine must be tested and functioning to its acceptable standard.
• To update the Preventative Maintenance office or Maintenance manager on the completion/status of work assigned daily or at such shorter interval as may be necessary.
• To supply information to the Maintenance Manager on all critical spare parts needed for all equipment including utility equipment.

•  Provide supervision and leadership for maintenance staff, including on-the-job training and career development.
• Ensure compliance with maintenance systems, safety protocols, and hygiene standards.
• Diagnose and repair electronic instrumentation, control loops, and computerized devices using electrical drawings, test equipment, and calibration tools.
• Respond to emergencies, troubleshoot problems, and provide seamless customer service to minimize downtime and improve operations.
• Follow GMP and HSE practices to ensure product safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering or related field is a plus.
• 3-5 years of experience operating PET machines or similar industrial equipment in a manufacturing setting.
• Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of PET blow moulding or similar plastic manufacturing processes.
• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge with experience in machine troubleshooting and maintenance.
