The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the Engineering department maximizes the Plant’s uptime by overseeing simultaneous projects.

 

Job Summary

 

The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the Engineering department maximizes the Plant’s uptime by overseeing simultaneous projects, managing a diverse team of engineers responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of all equipment and machinery, strategic planning, team development, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

 

The Engineering Manager is also responsible for ensuring that products are produced to meet quality standards, production schedules, and cost objectives.

 

Other:

  • Ensure the smooth running of the department by coordinating all activities and functions.
  • Present monthly reports for all engineering related activities.
  • Liaise with external customers/contractors/suppliers as and when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to established and approved standard operating procedures, conditions and limits conduct any other related duties that may be assigned by the Technical Director.
  • Effectively ensure that subordinates adhere to the company’s/department’s safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of injury.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as required by the job function.                  

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • MSc in Manufacturing, Engineering or related discipline.
  • At least twelve (12) years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, with a minimum of five (5) in a managerial role.
  • Prior experience leading a team of multi-disciplined Engineers both in Capital Projects & operational plant maintenance
  • Proficiency in ACAD/SolidWorks and MS Projects
  • Knowledge of glass manufacturing processes, machinery and equipment.
  • Competency in all areas of Plant Operations inclusive but not limited to Utilities, Process operations, Packaging, Batch operations
  • Working knowledge of DCS and/or SCADA systems
  • Intimate exposure to Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), its application and uses for analyzing and improving Maintenance management performance and plant reliability 
  • Possesses strong project management skills
