AC Hotel is actively seeking to hire a Security and Loss Prevention Officer. Under the general supervision of the Security and Loss Prevention Manager, he/she will be responsible for administering and enforcing security measures on property.

Security and Loss Prevention Officer

Core  Job Functions:

Attendance and active participation are required in the following:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure all incidents are thoroughly investigated and appropriate action is taken as also proper notifications are made.
  • Conduct follow-up investigations on reports as directed by Security and Loss Prevention Manager
  • Recommend changes to improve Security operations.
  • Must be able to work under adverse conditions, including overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays and testify in court as requested.
  • Check off equipment on charge or in the possession of the department e.g. radios, flashlights, batons, logs etc.
  • Read and sign logs, registers etc.
  • Monitor security radio net to ensure adherence to correct voice procedure.
  • Relieve Security and Loss Prevention Officers for lunch or washroom breaks if necessary.
  • Investigate curators and associate’s security reports.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of the Security and Loss Prevention Office, guard huts and security work areas.
  • Check electronic security devices to ensure that they are in place and working properly.
  • Check with the duty manager a minimum of three (3) times when on the evening and night shifts.
  • Visit known vulnerable spots a minimum of four (4) times during each shift.
  • Attend training sessions as instructed.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the team to whom your report.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Diploma/ Certificate in Security Administration/Management or related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum one (1) year experience in a similar position, preferably in a Hospitality environment.
  • Experience using various report writing and investigation techniques will be an asset
  • Clean Police Report.

  • Good critical and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Knowledgeable of the Acts and Regulations governing the sector.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ethical, Professional and Confidential.
  • Knowledge of Team Building skills
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible and take on new tasks as required
  • Ability to observe situations and make appropriate decision.

Special Conditions associated with the job

  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20-25 pounds without assistance.
  • Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays to meet critical deadlines.
  • Work flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
