POSITION TITLE:

Security Coordinator

(Contract Position)

POSITION GRADE:

Grade 2 (a)

DEPARTMENT:

Health, Safety, Security and Environment

REPORTS TO (JOB TITLE):

The position reports to:

A. POSITION PURPOSE:

The Security  Coordinator reports to the HSSE Manager and shall be responsible for the day to day supervision of external security firms securing EMBD’s direct operations which span over 21 active locations comprising some 8,000 Acres and 77,000 Acres of the former Caroni (1975) Ltd for and on behalf of the Government/Commissioner of State Lands.

 

B. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide recommendations and implementation of a comprehensive security plan for the security state lands, EMBD’s facilities and quarry operations.
  • Review and monitor activities related to security plans including all aspects related to new developments and updating of the plan and, if necessary, its implementation.
  • Establish procedures for and supervise investigations of security related incidents, overseeing incident reporting and responses, including incident logging and appropriate notification and coordination.
  • Provides data as appropriate for use in the development of the Physical Security Strategic Plan/Work plan.
  • Leads operational security risk management activities to determine gaps and recommend mitigation measures for ensuring robust security protocols and enhancing value to the company.
  • Manages the security contracts and oversees a network of security professionals and vendors contracted to safeguard the State lands and facilities, company's assets as well as the physical safety of employees and visitors.
  • Monitor the performance of security providers and prepares reports to the Manager – HSSE.
  • Conducts annual performance reports on security service providers.
  • Adheres to established corporate management policies and procedures including health and safety and monitors compliance to these policies and procedures.
  • Assesses the implementation and maintenance of security training programs for external security personnel and in-house security personnel, if any.
  • Identifies and advises the management team on protection goals, objectives consistent with corporate strategic plan.
  • Assists in the implementation of the corporate security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security risk management such as asset protection, workplace violence prevention, access control systems, video surveillance, information assets protection including network architecture security and employee education and awareness etc.
  • Advises on priority security initiatives based on appropriate risk management and feasibility analysis.
  • Maintains relationships with high-level law enforcement and other related government agencies, security agencies, intelligence and private contracted counterparts.
  • Oversees incident response planning, investigation of security breaches, and assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary.
  • Conducts security audits and leads internal security auditing activities as required.
  • Manages and reports on the status of all security projects undertaken by the company.
  • Continuously monitors all assets, evaluates and mitigates potential risks to ensure physical safety and security of our assets and people facilities, business operations, and reputation.
  • Supports the implementation and deployment of incident response programs across the organization.
  • Recommends and implements technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the company assets.
  • Establish operating protocols for managing security risks.
  • Keeps pace of current and forecasted risks, threats, and provides intelligence to the Manager - HSSE as required.
  • Participates in cross functional Teams as required and recommends actions to other departments for organization wide security risk management.
  • Developing and delivering training programmes and awareness sessions and security programmes and related initiatives.

D. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIOURAL AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:                                                           

Qualifications: Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Security Administration/Management or any other related field.
  • Training and/or professional qualifications in Security Administration and Management.
  • Certified Protection Professional.

Experience: Desired

  • Five (5) years’ experience in a similar position with experience in supervising and directing a Security team.

Behavioural Competencies: Desired

  • Attention to details.
  • Strong Communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to influence at all levels in the organization.
  • Adept at negotiations.
  • Exemplify integrity.

Technical Competencies: Desired

  • Strong working knowledge of pertinent laws and established network in the law enforcement community.
  • Strong security-business continuity planning, auditing, crisis management, risk management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology, information security and innovative security management solutions (e.g. identity management and threat intelligence).
  • Sound understanding of corporate governance, risk and compliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of surveillance systems and processes for safeguarding infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of security contract management.
  • Extensive knowledge of security risk management best practice.
  • Project Management skills.
