Christel House Jamaica is the newest school in the Christel House International global network. Opened in 2020, Christel House Jamaica currently serves 420 Kindergarten through 6th-grade students. The school will grow by adding a grade each year.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: Christel House Jamaica seeks a teacher to provide support to the teachers to produce high-quality outcomes for the students at Christel House Jamaica. The Teacher facilitates learning by establishing a professional relationship with pupils, creating a positive learning environment, and developing and fostering the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children, according to age, ability, and aptitude. Assess and record progress, and develop ways to encourage, challenge, and inspire pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards for integrated science.
- Teach scientific principles and concepts through a variety of instructional techniques, including lectures, hands-on activities, and collaborative projects.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Create and administer assessments, including quizzes, tests, and projects, to evaluate student understanding and proficiency in science.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students regarding their performance and areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and achievements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance science curriculum and instructional materials.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in science education and incorporate relevant advancements into lesson planning.
- Establish and maintain a positive and effective classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and respect.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events as required.
- Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of current educational practices.
- Engage in continuous self-reflection and seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Participate in extracurricular such as social, sporting, clubs, student organizations, etc
Education and/or Experience
- BoE. Science or related certification.
- A minimum of two (2) year of related work experience.
- Proven experience teaching science at the middle or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts, methodologies, and curriculum standards.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners and create an inclusive classroom environment.
