The Safety Officer supports safety programs, identifying hazards, ensuring ECCAA compliance, and assisting with safety training. The role involves monitoring air safety, occupational health, conducting audits, and supporting incident investigations, ensuring safe operations and regulatory adherence.

  • Assist the Safety Manager in the development, implementation, and evaluation of safety programs and initiatives within the organization.
  • Help identify and evaluate potential safety hazards and report findings to the Safety Manager.
  • Assist in developing corrective actions and supporting safety risk assessments.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and aviation safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records related to safety performance, incidents, and training. Support the preparation of periodic safety reports for management.
  • Assist in planning and organizing staff training related to safety management systems (SMS), occupational health, and aviation safety.
  • Support the investigation of safety events, accidents, and occupational injuries, ensuring the collection of necessary data and documentation.
  • Monitor the organization’s compliance with aviation safety and Occupational Health & Safety regulations and assist with reporting and ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide safety advice and assistance to staff, ensuring they are aware of and follow safety protocols. Assist in the delivery of safety training sessions to staff.
  • Work closely with other departments, including Human Resources, to promote a safety-conscious culture and to address any safety concerns or incidents involving staff members.
  • Assist the Safety Manager with safety program activities, including ensuring that safety measures and security protocols are being followed.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Safety Manager, in line with the overall safety objectives of the organization.

  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, CORE COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: High school diploma or an Associate's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Aviation, or a related field.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum 2 years of experience in an air carrier safety-related role; preferably within aviation, transport or high security environment
      • Familiarity with safety regulations and safety management systems (SMS).
      • Basic understanding of Occupational Health & Safety regulations and safety risk management.
    • Certifications: Safety-related certification is a plus.
    • Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with safety management software or systems is an advantage.
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting safety issues and interacting with staff and management.
