Research Analyst
Jamaica Institute of Financial Services, an organisation that provides training and development for the financial services sector, is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Research Analyst.
Job Scope
The Research Analyst plays a crucial role in conducting research and analysis to support the organization’s objectives and enhance its contribution to the financial services sector and the wider business community. The position is responsible for gathering, analyzing and interpreting data as well as preparing reports and recommendations based on their findings.
Duties and Responsibilities
o Conduct comprehensive research on various areas related to the financial services sector, as required , including market trends, employee engagement, regulatory changes and emerging technologies, utilizing a variety of research methods such as surveys, interviews and data analysis to gather information
o Conduct salary surveys for the financial services industry as required
o Collect, clean and analyse data to identify patterns, trends and insights
o Use statistical and analytical tools to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions
o Provide quantitative analysis to support decision making processes
o Gather and maintain databases for research purposes
o Monitor changes in regulatory framework and assess their potential impact on the financial services sector in Jamaica and wider Caribbean
o Works closely with Marketing Support Officer to integrate research findings into training programmes and publications
o Prepare detailed and insightful report based on research findings, presenting data in a clear and accessible manner.
o Provide recommendations and insights to support strategic decision-making within the organization and the financial community
o Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders through written reports, presentations and other communication channels
o Analyse policies, regulations, and industry guidelines to assess their implication for financial institutions and practitioners
o Provide input on policy advocacy initiatives to promote a robust and sustainable financial ecosystem
o Implement and maintain quality and integrity of research processes, adhering to ethical standards and best practices and as requited by the Data Protection Act.
o Stay updated on advancements in research methodologies, data analysis techniques and industry best practices
o Attend relevant conferences, workshops and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge
Knowledge and Skills Required
o BSc Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business or related field
o Strong analytical and quantitative skills
o Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical software
o Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently
o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
o Knowledge of the Jamaican financial services industry would be an asset
o Strong written and oral communications skills, Ability to do research and provide reports
o Excellent Time Management and data interpretation skills.
o Computer literate, proficient in MS Application, especially Excel, PowerPoint and graphic presentations
o Must be able to function under pressure
o Great interpersonal skills and is a team player
o Ability to maintain confidentiality
