Overview

KPMG Jamaica's delivery center, Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS), located in Kingston, is expanding its operations. JESS provides office support to KPMG United States ("the Client"). The Client’s Risk Management – Independence - Private Equity Center of Excellence (PE-COE) offers subject matter expertise to manage the Independence requirements of KPMG's strategic Private Equity clients. This expansion aims to support the audit practice, improve speed to market, quality growth, and business development. PE-COE is growing its operations at JESS to support the independence review of new affiliated entities related to PE-COE accounts under applicable independence rules and regulations.


Job Summary

The JESS PE-COE Officer will be responsible for performing tasks in accordance with provided operating procedures, including:

• Assisting with identification and research of new acquisitions and newly affiliated entities related to PE-COE accounts.
• ​Performing initial Sentinel service and business relationship analysis using Alteryx powered technology.
• ​Initiating and tracking communications with KPMG partners and professionals to collect engagement contracts, determine engagement status and scope.
• ​Documenting the status/outcome of communications and making administrative conclusions.

The Officer will report primarily to the JESS RM Team Leader but will also take direction from Client’s PE-COE team leaders and work closely with PE-COE account managers on assigned accounts. They will be responsible for delivering excellent project management assistance, self-education, continuous training, and ensuring overall Client satisfaction with the delivery of services.


Job Responsibilities:

• Build foundational knowledge of SEC independence rules specific to affiliate determination and permissibility of non-audit services and other relationships.
• ​Perform research to verify media announcements and identify M&A activity impacting PE-COE accounts.
• ​Provide initial analysis of services KPMG provides to newly identified entities and communicate with engagement partners to obtain engagement status and contracts.
• ​Monitor acquisitions/divestitures of allocated Private Equity Accounts.
• ​Actively participate in internal PE-COE calls and meetings.
• ​Manage communications related to clearance activities, including updating information in the Sentinel
• System and performing independence clearance procedures.
• ​Maintain pertinent information, including engagement letters, SOWs, proposals, emails, and deliverables.
• ​Action ad hoc requests from KPMG engagement teams and PE Account partners.
• ​Assist with special projects as needed.
  

Education/Experience:

• Minimum two years of work experience (experience in a public accounting firm is a plus).
• ​Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience.
• ​Knowledge of Independence compliance rules and regulations preferred.

Special Conditions:

• Expected to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Primarily working in a paperless environment using information systems.
• May be required to work extended hours periodically or on public holidays.
