QUALITY/HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY


To manage the company’s quality control processes and health, safety, and environmental procedures across company operations. To ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines while maintaining the highest quality standards for materials and workmanship.

 

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES


 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review records of materials purchased to ensure it conforms to the required standards and code
  • Updating quality documentations to ensure it is current and up to date
  • Review of quality records produced during the operations both in the workshop and site
  • Production of reports from data collected
  • Liaising with client and drawing office for construction drawing and organising approvals of the same
  • Preparation of project dossier for submission to client upon completion of project
  • Liaising with production manager on requirements for paint and general quality of materials and workmanship
  • Design forms for quality records
  • Identify training needs in Quality aspects of the job
  • Maintain register of all equipment that is to be calibrated or certified
  • Oversee the operation of the company safety officers
  • Design forms of safety records
  • Track all accidents/incidents reported
  • Investigate all accidents and submit reports to client/OSHA as required
  • Finalize and monitor distribution of PPE specifically boots, coveralls, back braces to ensure all are provided with what is necessary and there is no abuse of the system
  • Report/investigate/action accidents on site, workshop, office
  • Liaise with OSHA representatives and agencies as required
  • Identify training needs in Safety aspects of the job
  • Chairing the safety committee meeting to enable actionable items are identified and carried out
  • Carry out risk assessments for projects, site and in response to bids/tender requirements
  • Review HSE Data and performance
  • Coordinate HSE matters with Safety Officers/Project Managers on site
  • Compile HSE Budget for the year covering all items from PPE to Equipment Certification
  • Any other related duties

HSE ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTED BEHAVIOURS


 

  • Following all HSE rules at all times
  • Stopping any work that you recognize as being unsafe and reporting it to the Supervisor
  • Reporting all accidents and incidents you are involved in or witness to the Supervisor as soon as you reasonably can
  • Using all equipment in the work place as designed and with design operating safety features
  • Conducting myself in a professional manner at all times, treating everyone in a cordial and direct fashion. The Company expects everyone to be treated with respect and dignity at all times
  • Becoming familiar with the HSE procedures required to perform your jobs safely
  • Ensuring full compliance with all applicable legislations and site regulations
  • Attending and actively participate in scheduled HSE training meetings, toolbox talks and HSE programmes
  • Performing all work in a safe manner
  • Using all appropriate PPE in a correct manner
  • Observing good housekeeping practice
  • Reporting the taking of any medication while on the work place to the Supervisor
  • Participating in Audits/ Inspections as recommended by the Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


  • Professional certification in Quality Management and  Occupational Safety ( ASQ, NEBOSH, OSHA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality control and safety management, preferably in construction, manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant quality standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience developing and implementing quality management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Computer proficiency particularly in Microsoft Office programs
