 Job Summary

 To source, procure and purchase materials (consumables and spares) required for the company’s operations in accordance with established price, quality and technical specifications.

 

Principal duties and Responsibilities

  •  Monitor and make recommendations to the Purchasing Manager on stock and reorder levels for all materials, based on usage changes and optimum inventory levels.
  • Streamline the operations of the Stores procurement function to ensure all controls and processes are in line with best practice.
  • Research and identify potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities, pricing, and quality standards to establish a reliable vendor network.
  • Generate purchase orders based on polices, departmental needs, including specifications, quantities, and delivery deadlines. 
  • Track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and address any potential issues with suppliers. 
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between receipts and invoices inclusive of managing returns and requests for credits.
  • Ensure that adequate records of suppliers and materials are maintained.
  • Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities to reduce costs through supplier negotiations or alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Work closely with different departments within the organization to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Comply and promote the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Food Safety and other company policies established by the Company. 
  • Perform other related duties as required by the job function.

 

 

Key deliverables

  • Preparation, processing and maintenance of Purchase Orders and related documentation
  • Management of the flow of materials (consumables and spares) from source to delivery

 

General Requirements

  • CIPS Level 4 or Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Logistics
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a similar role   
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)
