What We Need About the role The Project Manager is responsible for customer project management and delivery, as well as the management and forecasting of all costs for a defined project scope including external vendors. The role holder will manage a portfolio of customer projects; all of which must be collectively managed to provide the desired business results and customer satisfaction. This position must be able to manage waterfall, hybrid and agile project delivery across the portfolio. Key responsibilities - Manages high complexity and/or high-risk projects or medium complexity and/ or medium risk programmes ensuring that scope, schedule and cost are aligned with contractual obligations and clients’ expectations. Forecasts, trends, and reports on financials and schedules on assigned client projects.
- Works with budget / P&L owners to ensure proper cost alignment and management.
- Authority to direct others and ensure projects align with contractual obligations and clients’ expectations.
- Manages delivered revenue and gross margin for the project services, including third-party services.
- Acts as an Agile Coach, develops the team and takes measures to ensure continuous improvements. Removes obstacles that hinder the team's progress. Helps the team maintain focus on delivering high-quality work within the sprint.
- In the case of Agile, ensures all aspects of the Agile process including story definitions, ceremonies, backlog management, etc are established, communicated and adhere to by the team where applicable
- With regards to Backlog Management, assists the Product Owner in managing the product backlog. Ensures the backlog is prioritized and well-defined. Facilitates backlog refinement sessions.
- Analyzes customer satisfaction and implements lessons learned and best practices.
- Resolves issues affecting assigned projects, including but not limited to client, resources, budgeting, change and other commercial matters.
- Maintains a focus on quality. Ensures that the team adheres to quality standards and best practices. Facilitates regular development reviews, testing, and integration activities. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement in quality.
- Makes decisions which impact the success of assigned projects, related to results, deadlines and budget. Understands the importance of implementing a robust project change control process with clients.
- Assists in development of proposals and requests for proposals associated with highly complex projects.
- Works under limited supervision and is fully accountable for his/ her work and assumes project/ supervisory responsibilities.
Key qualifications and experience - 5+ years Project Management experience in an Information Technology environment working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in a Business or Information Technology related field. An MBA or Masters in Project Management is desirable.
- Certified in PMI PMP ®.
- Practical knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies such as SCRUM or SAFe
- Knowledge of the use of Agile tools such as burndown charts, velocity tracking, and cumulative flow diagrams to assess progress and platforms such as Jira and Asana.
- Understanding of the nuances and complexities associated with large-scale application transformation and migration projects will be a key asset
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Asana, etc.
- Experience with vendor management.
- Experience with financial management and complex planning.
- Participates in Project Management Institute and/or local chapter activities and maintains PMP® qualification by earning PDUs.
- Excellent communication skills and leadership capabilities.
