The Project Lead for the Shelter In Place Project is the management professional responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and controlling all the project’s procurement and construction activities.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of the Engineering Department, the Project Lead for the Shelter In Place Project is the management professional responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and controlling all the project’s procurement and construction activities to achieve the safety, cost, schedule and quality objectives of the project while adhering to all regulatory requirements. The Project Lead receives guidance from the Vice President of the Engineering Department and Internal Decision Board and performs the key functions described below. The SIP Project Lead will also be assigned to other projects as determined by the VP Engineering.

Specific Accountabilities:

To the Project Team (Shelter In Place Project)

  1. Responsible for safe, timely, cost effective and professional service for the project management of the project
  2. Recommends the project organization and works with the T&CT Department, Vice President Engineering and Internal Decision Board for its staffing
  3. Provides oversight of the Procurement and Construction Management Contractor
  4. Ensures that effective project controls for the project is implemented
  5. Provides ongoing project cost reports, progress reports, project KPIs and cost projections as needed
  6. Manages the internal project team to complete the project
  7. Directs and implements the safety program and quality plan for the project
  8. Responsible for organizing office space and tools and equipment
  9. Reviews and updates the project execution plan as required and obtains commitments
  10. Ensures compliance to all regulatory requirements for the project
  11. Ensures project compliance to the company’s PSM Program including the permitting requirements
  12. Informs Vice President Engineering and Decision Board of problems/challenges and solutions, particularly as they pertain to safety, cost, schedule, quality and PSM compliance
  13. Manages cost trend/forecast cost to completion and change order system for project
  14. Solicits participation, alignment and support by Corporate staff groups and support functions: Operations, Finance, Technology and Risk, HSS, Corporate Partnerships, Talent and Culture Transformation, Business and Market Development

To the Contractor

  1. Assigned as a Company representative for the contract
  2. Initiates change orders supplements to contract
  3. Reviews and provides first level approval for all payments
  4. Provides overall direction
  5. Reviews and provides first level approval for all purchases
  6. Evaluates performance
  7. Tracks progress, cost, schedule and directs corrective measures

Qualifications

B.Sc. Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Project implementation and management.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:             

1. Strong technical competence and leadership skills

2. Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment

3. Demonstrated interpersonal / teambuilding skills

4. Strong written and oral communication skills

5. Computer Literate

6. Functional knowledge of the Micro Soft Outlook Suite of products inclusive of Microsoft Project

7. Sound Interpersonal skills

9. Good technical writing skills
