Production Manager

he Production Manager (PM) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

• Responsible for daily management and support of the supervisory team to achieve operational success.
• Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements.
• Ensuring efficiency in allocation of labour, resources and asset utilisation.
  • Ensure the production team is aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities.
  • Interface with Production Scheduling to determine schedules for shift production to ensure the manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Facilitate Production meeting s with the Sales Team as well as key members of the Leadership Team re: Production planning.
  • Maintain visible lead for adherence to procedures and instructions.
  • Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company procedures and policy.
  • Monitor change over and/or line set up efficiency.
  • Identify areas for process optimisation and implement plans to improve production efficiency with the Operations Team.
  • Measure and monitor waste management system.
  • Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools as well as ensure all health and safety regulations are met, especially use of PPE.
  • Provides leadership and training to all production staff to accomplish the company’s mission and vision.
    • Liaise with Quality department re: production quality issues and carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
    • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems.
    • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them.
    • Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables.
    • Submit production reports daily as well as departmental monthly reports.
    • Collaborate with Operations Team to ensure efficient operations aligns to the Company's Value Chain.
