Reporting to the Process Superintendent, the Process Engineer is generally accountable for the provision of process engineering and technical services aimed at assisting in maintaining and optimizing the efficiency of PLNL’s operations.

Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Process Superintendent, the Process Engineer is generally accountable for the provision of process engineering and technical services aimed at assisting in maintaining and optimizing the efficiency of PLNL’s operations. The position monitors all chemical programmes on the plant, reports system irregularities and assists in developing process solutions, routinely reports on major equipment evaluations, monitors unit operations and performance levels, assists in the development of equipment specifications for vendor quotations and routinely communicates with operations and maintenance on recommendations for maintaining and improving plant performance. The position must consistently fulfill these requirements in accordance with Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited’s business objectives, policy guidelines, procedures and through the effective use and management of the available equipment, material, financial and human resources.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• In-depth knowledge and experience with monitoring chemical treatment programmes for boiler systems and sea / fresh cooling water systems, and analyses system irregularities with the view to provide feasible solutions.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with the analysis of catalyst performance, reactor bed evaluations and remaining catalyst life projections.
• Experience with utilizing process engineering software (e.g. Aspen HYSYS/Plus) to aid in equipment evaluations.
• Ability to develop solutions to plant reliability problems and perform root cause analyses on system problems and failures.
• Experience in planning and implementation of routine jobs, medium / large scale projects and turnaround jobs as well as in coordinating and supervising contractor personnel on assigned jobs
• Experience in risk assessments including Process Hazard Analysis (HAZOP/WHATIF/LOPA etc) as well as Job Safety Analysis.
• Experience with the Management of Change Process (including risk assessment component).
• Proficient knowledge of ERP System e.g. JD Edwards (JDE) EnterpriseOne, SAP, Maximo
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ethical standards and ability to multi-task in a dynamic result-oriented environment
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.

Preferred Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Chemical & Process Engineering or equivalent from a well-recognized, accredited institution.

• Minimum of seven (7) years working experience as a Process Engineer in the Petrochemical Industry.
