Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Plant Operator to join our team.

Open to Residents of Barbados only.

 

Role Description:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for a combination of tasks related to the production of products. The Operator is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the assigned area(s); for operating processes and equipment in a safe and professional manner and to ensure a safe working and high-quality product; for providing instructions necessary to ensure a smooth operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective and efficient bagging and palletization of high-quality products  to required specifications.
  • Conduct daily start-up activities of relevant equipment and any changeovers necessary to ensure the completion of duties.
  • Operate specialized equipment as related and as required.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the quality of the processes, quality system, safety system or ingredients; check product quality for conformance to Company specifications; control further processing or the delivery of nonconforming products until deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected; record defects and maintaining records as required;
  • Complete accurately any other paperwork and/or record related to the production schedule, inventory, quality standards, health and safety; and compile, code, calculate, tabulate and verify pertinent production information or data as required.
  • Take samples of product for testing as required.
  • Review product stock and assigned bins and checking product quality in bins.
  • Check and verify bag weight of finished products; adjusting scales to ensure that they are within accepted tolerances while maintaining the continuous flow of product on the production line.
  • Record finished product totals as required.
  • Label and apply best before dates as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment to meet established GMP and SQF standards; perform work in a safe manner, reporting all hazardous conditions, incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Sweep and clean the work environment and equipment as required.
  • Sort and store raw materials, supplies and finished products as required.
  • Repair pallets when necessary, ensuring their cleanliness before the storage of products.
  • Operate Forklift as required.
  • Assist with inventory counts under the direction of the Supervisor. 
  • Assist in the cross-training of other personnel.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures.
  • Make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Act in the absence of other personnel as requested.
  • Assists in other reasonable job-related activities that may arise in periods of non-production.

Qualifications:

  • Four (4) CXC subjects or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics
  • PLUS three (3) years working experience in a related field
  • Certification in Basic Mechanical Engineering Skills
  • Certification in Plant Maintenance 1/ Industrial Mechatronics-Mechanical Engineering NVQ Level 3 would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective and efficient manufacturing and distribution of Finished Product.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.
