Plant Manager - Aging, Warehouse, Chaguaramas

Main Purpose of Job: 

The successful candidate will assume a leadership role within the Aging, Alcohol warehousing, Chaguaramas team, emphasizing the critical responsibility of designing comprehensive plans to guide operations. This involves actively engaging with and extracting valuable facts and data from the collaborative efforts of the team members. By leveraging the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology, the individual will not only oversee the execution of these plans but also play a pivotal role in ensuring that the actions taken are informed by accurate and relevant information. Importantly, these meticulously crafted plans are geared towards achieving specific objectives set by upper management. This role is pivotal in overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of aging spirits, managing alcohol storage facilities, and operating the port facility. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the aging process, extensive experience in warehouse management, and a strong background in logistics and port operations.

 

Required Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Aging Process Management:
    • Oversee the aging process of spirits, ensuring optimal conditions for quality and consistency.
    • Monitor and adjust environmental factors impacting the aging process, such as temperature and humidity.
  2. Storage Facility Oversight:
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of alcohol storage facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations in the storage of alcohol.
  3. Port Facility Operations:
    • Oversee the operations of the port facility, including shipping, receiving, and logistics.
    • Coordinate with customs and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all import/export regulations.
  4. Inventory Management:
    • Implement effective inventory control systems to track stock levels, orders, and deliveries.
    • Conduct regular audits and analyses to optimize inventory turnover and reduce waste.
  5. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, train, and develop a team responsible for aging, storage, and port operations.
    • Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  6. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage budgets for aging, storage, and port operations.
    • Optimize resource allocation and manage operational costs.
  7. Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Uphold the highest standards of quality control in all areas of responsibility.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  8. Systems and Procedures:
    • Ensure data accuracy, retention and administration of DRAMS, SAP and CEBIS software systems.
  9. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align facility operations with broader organizational goals.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree level qualification in Operations Management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or Chemical/Process Engineering will be considered.
  • Professional Certification in Brewing and/or Distillation Sciences.
  • A qualification in Food Science and Technology would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role, preferably in warehouse and inventory management. Port management experience will be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse and inventory management principles.
  • Experience in logistics, including import/export compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in warehouse management systems and MS Office Suite.
