PLANT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER/MANAGER

Summary

The Plant Maintenance Engineer is a "hands on" role. This position will assist the Plant Maintenance Manger function in the manufacturing plant to ensure all equipment is functioning and producing high quality products in compliance with TTBS standards and a preventative maintenance progamme that supports a rigorous operation schedule.

Purpose: 

Responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery with the goal to produce high quality products that meet and exceed TTBS standards, on time with minimum amount of waste. The Plant Maintenance engineer serves as a key technical resource for the manufacturing operation focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution for electronic/mechanical equipment issues, associated with the manufacturing of metal roofing products.

Duties:  

  • Planning and execution of the preventative maintenance programs. Improve the reliability of the equipment.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to machine operators in all aspects of their work.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance, and then supervising a third party maintenance team.
  • Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing faults.
  • Supervising engineering and technical staff.
  • Obtaining specialist components, fixtures or fittings.
  • Managing budgets within the related field of work.
  • Maintaining statistical and financial records within the related field of work.
  • Ensuring compliance with TTBS standards
  • Maintaining maintenance reports
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Three to Five years of experience working with electrical, electronic and mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to solve problems via advanced technical knowledge, complex analysis and theory testing.
  • A record of success in implementing lean manufacturing concepts for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to trouble shoot, fix and maintain equipment, keeping machines in excellent condition.  Strong attention to detail and skilful in handling small parts.
  • Ability to train operators in good operating procedures.
  • Experience with spending most of the time on the manufacturing floor. 
  • Experience can be substituted for academic qualifications
