Angostura Limited

Angostura Limited,a globally competitive company, was established in 1824. The company’s signature product, Angostura® aromatic bitters, was named after the town in Venezuela where it was first created by J. G. B. Siegert, Surgeon General in Simon Bolivar’s Army at the time. The product was initially created as an elixir for stomach disorders, but eventually became famous worldwide, as a flavour enhancer for cocktails and food alike. In 1875, the House of Angostura was re-located to Trinidad, and by the turn of the century, the company began experimenting with rum. To this day, it is now one of the Caribbean’s leading rum producers with the most state-of-the-art Distillery in the region. Its well known rums are – Angostura 1824 twelve year old rum, Angostura 1919 premium rum, Angostura White Oak rum, Royal Oak rum, Forres Park Puncheon rum and Fernandes black label rum.

The Company has been able to achieve a significant share of the Trinidad & Tobago rum market, a position which it has held for many years. As part of its ongoing diversification effort, Angostura Limited has also made significant investments in quoted companies both locally, regionally and internationally. It boasts of holding BSI’s ISO 9002 certification for quality standards and the environmental management standards ISO 14001 certification. Its Laboratory also received accreditation for chemical testing from the Trinidad and Tobago Laboratory Accreditation Service, the first manufacturing company in the region to obtain such an accreditation.

The company is on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock exchange and is part of the CL Financial Group.
