Pizza Chef

Department: Management

Reporting to: Head Chef/Restaurant Manager

 

Job Purpose:

The Pizza Chef leads all aspects of the Pizza Operation and is required to deliver and craft high-quality, authentic pizzas. The ideal candidate must have experience in dough preparation, sauce making, and various cooking techniques, including wood-fired, gas, or electric pizza ovens. They should be passionate about food, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.

We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure the operation runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, stretch, and cook pizzas according to company recipes and standards.
  • Make fresh pizza dough, sauces, and toppings daily.
  • Operate and maintain pizza ovens (wood-fired, gas, or electric).
  • Ensure all pizzas meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Ensure consistency in food presentation, portioning, and taste.
  • Monitor food stock and place orders as needed weekly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.
  • Experiment with and suggest new pizza menu ideas.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to secure the best ingredients while managing food costs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and training as needed.
  • Customer-Service: Food service managers might have to interact with customers. Being friendly and courteous will help keep customers coming back.
  • Keeping kitchens fully equipped with all the tools and inventory.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and skill development to improve kitchen performance and consistency.
  • Coordinating operations and being present on the restaurant’s peak nights.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Pizza Chef, Pizzaiolo, or similar role.
  • Ability to prepare high-quality dough and hand-stretch pizzas.
  • Experience using and maintaining pizza ovens.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or relevant certification.
  • Experience with artisanal or Neapolitan-style pizza.
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine and ingredients.
