POWER LINE TECHNICIAN

To work as part of a Line Crew in the safe and efficient construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution systems in order to achieve a safe and reliable supply of electricity to customers.

Description

• To work as part of a Line Crew in the safe and efficient construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution systems in order to achieve a safe and reliable supply of electricity to customers.

Main Duties

• Responsible for carrying out overhead and underground distribution and transmission work, as well as work in substations and other areas (at sea).
• Responsible for carrying out line work in a safe and efficient manner consistent with common Utility Work Practices and Work Methods.
• Responsible for operating line trucks and other line equipment, keeping safety, housekeeping and proper care uppermost in mind.
• Ensuring the ISO14001 Environmental Standard & ISO 45001 Safety Standard are adhered to & maintained.
• Responsible for providing high-quality, on-the-job training to Apprentice Linemen.
• Responsible for maintaining punctuality & being productive on a daily basis.
• Responsible for taking stand-by duty on a regular scheduled basis.
• Responsible for maintaining a neat appearance and tidy worksite in order to project a positive image of the Company with the public.
• Must be a supportive & interactive Team Player within the assigned work group.

Daily Duties

• Participate in Job Planning / Risk Management assessments of each job at its commencement.
• Perform Circle Check of assigned vehicle to ensure everything is secured and in good running order.
• Provide information on all outages to the System Control Room prior to planned outages and upon arrival at the scene of unplanned power outages.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

NOTE: Selected Employees will be required to participate in Subsea Activities which may include but not limited to:

Small boat operations and subsea cable trouble-shooting, which may entail cable fault locating using an approved test equipment, shallow water diving activities, new cable installation, splicing and other associated activities.

Academic/Technical/Management Experience & Qualifications:

• Journeyman Lineman’s qualifications.
• Must hold and maintain an applicable and valid Turks & Caicos Islands Driver’s License
