Network and System Administrator (Guyana)

This role involves managing both network systems (routers, firewalls, VPNs) and server environments (Windows/Linux), with a focus on optimizing performance, resolving technical issues, and safeguarding data. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise with proactive problem-solving to support organizational goals in a dynamic and growing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration:

• Design, configure, and maintain network hardware (Cisco/Juniper routers, switches, firewalls) and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance using tools like Nagios or SolarWinds; troubleshoot outages and latency.
• Implement security protocols (firewalls, IDS/IPS) and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR).
• Manage IP addressing, VLANs, and network segmentation.
• Collaborate on infrastructure upgrades and maintain detailed network documentation.

System Administration:

• Deploy and manage physical/virtual servers (Windows Server, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V).
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and backup solutions (Veeam, Backup Exec).
• Perform patch management, storage allocation (SAN/NAS), and automation via scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Monitor system health and optimize cloud resources (AWS/Azure) as needed.

Additional Duties:

• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and mentor junior staff.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
• Lead IT projects (migrations, cloud integration) and disaster recovery planning.
• Ensure compliance with IT policies and audit requirements.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Certifications preferred: CCNA, CompTIA Network+, MCSA, VMware VCP, CISSP.

Experience:

• 3-5 years in network/system administration.
• Proficiency in TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, Windows/Linux OS, and virtualization.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and monitoring tools.

Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently or in teams and manage multiple priorities.

• This position is based in Georgetown, Guyana. Occasional after-hours support and on-call rotation required.
