METAL FABRICATOR & FITTER (WELDER)

Continental Baking Company Limited is seeking to recruit a Metal Fabricator & Fitter (Welder) who will be responsible to fabricate, assemble, fit and install steel or other metal components for buildings, bridges, tank towers, boiler pressure vessels and other similar structures and products.

Core Functions

• Able to study engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal.
• Construct patterns and templates as guides and layouts.
• Lay out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications.
• Able to operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment, as well as brazing and soldering equipment.
• Repair worn parts and metal products by welding on extra layers.
• Assemble, repair and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units, subunits and automotive components, using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methods.
• Install fabricated components in final product.

Minimum Requirements: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Five (5) CXC/GCE Ordinary Level subject passes including Mathematics and English Language.
• Minimum of three (3) years in an apprenticeship program OR a combination of four (4) years’ work experience in the trade and college or industry courses in metal fabrication and fitting, is required.
• Holder of a valid Driver’s Licence – minimum General CMC.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail oriented, excellent human relations, communication, time management, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Highly professional, ethical and of integrity.
• May be required to work on weekends and public holidays, to meet operational demands.
