POSITION TITLE Mechanical Technician

JOB PURPOSE:

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the execution of mechanical maintenance work at the plant. The Mechanical Technician performs work related to corrective, preventative and outage maintenance.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the job making safety a natural part of all work performed and proactively ensure company HSE requirements are applied and met within the Mechanical department.

• Ensure that all work is done in accordance with approved working procedures.

• Evaluate plant defects for correction.

• Prepare work packages for approval.

• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance work on rotating equipment.

• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance work on static equipment.

• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance work on lubrication and hydraulic systems.

• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance work on gas and steam turbines and related equipment.

• Manage contractors for planned and unplanned outage work.

• Assist in sourcing and requisitioning spare parts, tools and all related items for proper execution of inspection and repairs.

• Create work requests for follow up on inspection or corrective when required.

• Maintaining good housekeeping at the site, and clean worksite after completing job.

• Generate written reports as required on activities related to the department.

• Assist in any planning activities for the department.

• Complete other tasks as requested by supervisor or Team Leader.

• Ensures waste is properly stored or disposed to prevent environmental hazards,

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

(i) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technician or equivalent.

• Minimum three (3) years practical experience working as a Mechanical Technician.

• Training/work in heavy industry
