The Mechanical Engineer is primarily responsible for executing estimation and project engineering duties. You will be required to design, develop, and oversee the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems and building automation solutions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and air distribution systems, using industry-standard software and engineering principles.
  • Conduct load calculations, energy modelling, and system simulations to optimize HVAC system performance, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality while minimizing environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines, and provide technical support and expertise throughout the design and construction process.
  • Perform site visits and inspections to assess existing HVAC systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend retrofit or upgrade solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Evaluate HVAC equipment, components, and materials for suitability, durability, and cost-effectiveness, and make recommendations for product selection and procurement.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, analyses, and simulations to assess system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Evaluation of Tender document and RFQ.
  • Prepare RFI and send to suppliers.
  • To accurately take off quantities from drawing.
  • To execute equipment selection and prepare schedule.
  • To prepare bill of quantities.
  • To Complete Bid documents

Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on HVAC system design and project management.
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex engineering problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy, precision, and quality in all aspects of engineering work.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and build positive relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Must own/operate a reliable motor vehicle that can be used for work. This role requires occassional travel to assigned job sites island wide.

 

Internal & External Contact (Level):

  • Client Meetings: Mechanical Engineers often meet with clients to understand their HVAC needs, discuss project requirements, present project proposals, and negotiate contracts. 
  • Vendor Communication: This role requires frequent interaction with HVAC equipment suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to obtain pricing, specifications, and availability of HVAC components and materials needed for project estimation and procurement. 
  • Contractor Coordination: You will collaborate with HVAC contractors, subcontractors, and tradespeople to coordinate project activities, manage project schedules, and ensure that work is completed according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: You will communicate with regulatory agencies, building inspectors, and permitting authorities to ensure that HVAC projects comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, environmental requirements, and safety standards.
