Job Description: Material Inventory Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Material Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient management, control, and distribution of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods for Scoops Unlimited Ltd.

This role ensures that inventory levels are maintained accurately to support production schedules and the distribution of ice cream products. The supervisor will manage inventory records, and collaborate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inventory Management:

• Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory quantities and locations within the warehouse.
• Implement and monitor stock rotation procedures (FIFO, etc.) to minimize waste and spoilage.

2. Order Fulfillment & Procurement Coordination:

• Work closely with procurement and production teams to forecast material needs, ordering raw materials, and packaging supplies.
• Ensure that required materials are available in sufficient quantities for production schedules.

3. Quality Control & Audits:

• Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with inventory management systems.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, and report any issues to management.
• Utilize inventory management system / Spreadsheet and tools to track and report on inventory levels, turnover rates, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Generate inventory reports to support decision-making and optimize supply chain operations.
• Liaise with the production team to ensure timely availability of materials for manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with logistics to manage inbound and outbound shipments of materials and finished goods.
  • Maintain clean and organized storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory management or warehouse supervision, preferably in the food manufacturing or distribution industry.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of inventory management practices, especially in perishable goods.
• Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in a cold storage environment when required (for ice cream storage).
• Ability to lift and move materials, sometimes up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays or overtime during peak seasons.
• Requires a lot of standing and lifting.
• Ability to climb ladders, stoop, reach over, bend and twist.
