Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Strategic Business Development Unit team in the capacity of:

Manager - Team Credit Unit

Have responsibility for management, direction, and timely processing of all team credit facilities in accordance with the bank’s credit policies.

Ensure the highest standard of client service is achieved in addition to the development of a harmonious and cooperative working environment.    

Location: Kingston

As a Manager - Team Credit Unit, you will:

• Lead management efforts by actively promoting and selling bank products and services.
• Develop plans and strategies to improve sales and service delivery within the unit in collaboration with the group.
• Manage client service directly or through feedback from supervisors.
• Ensure that internal clients are given proper guidance in accordance with bank policies, procedure and regulations.
• Prepare the unit’s budget in accordance with the bank’s policies and procedures.
• Solicit, negotiate, and close team loans and advances in accordance with the bank’s lending policies and guidelines.
• Evaluate requests for advances and approve those within delegated lending authorities and recommend to Credit Risk those facilities outside the delegated authorities.
• Monitor out-of-order advances and restrict the incidence of past due accounts.
• Assess credit applications and review clients’ financial status.
• Ensure that loans and other advances are properly documented, assessed, approved/ declined as per the bank’s policies, acceptable levels of risk and lending guidelines.
• Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

What do you need?

• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Management Studies or relevant discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
• Minimum of seven (7) years working experience in a banking or financial institution.
• Minimum of four (4) years working experience in sales leadership.
• Strong management and selling skills.
• Effective coaching skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to produce reports.
• Sound knowledge of computer software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Comprehensive knowledge of the bank’s policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of managerial techniques.
• Experience in credit analysis and the administration of a lending portfolio would be an asset.
