The Manager, Finance and Administration is expected to provide supervisory oversight to the Accounting Unit and ensure the financial health of the Credit Union through the application of appropriate financial controls and the provision of timely and accurate reports and financial advice.

Job Summary

The Manager, Finance and Administration is expected to provide supervisory oversight to the Accounting Unit and ensure the financial health of the Credit Union through the application of appropriate financial controls and the provision of timely and accurate reports and financial advice. These should facilitate effective executive decision making that minimizes risk and optimizes the returns on the Credit Union's investments.
The incumbent will also oversee the administration of the portfolio of the Credit Union's assets and the acquisition and/or contracting of goods and services that support excellence in the delivery of our member services.

Responsibilities of the Role:
• Works in collaboration with the rest of the management team to achieve the strategic goals of the Credit Union;
• Develops annual budgets that support the effective implementation of the Credit Union's annual operations plans;
• Plans and coordinates the work program for the Accounting Unit to support Operational Plans;
• Manages the Credit Union's cash flow requirements through the timely collection of revenues and disbursement of payments;
• Liaises with bankers and other financial institutions to ensure the efficient transfer and movement of funds;
• Ensures that financial and accounting records are maintained in accordance with sound accounting principles and practices;
• Ensures compliance to all legal and tax requirements as well as all International Accounting Standards and ail relevant International Financial Reporting Standards;
• Provides timely and accurate management reports;
• Provides timely financial advice to facilitate effective executive decision making;
• Provides guidance to all units on the appropriate finance and accounting procedures to be followed;
• Maintains an updated register of the fixed assets;
• Oversees the timely preparation of the monthly payroll function;
• Oversees the monthly reconciliation of the General Ledger and sub-ledger account;
• Oversees the monthly reconciliation of the Credit Union's bank accounts.
• Reviews consolidated audit files and statutory accounts prepared for External Auditors;
• Oversees the cost-efficient procurement of goods and professional services in accordance with established procurement practices to support excellence in the delivery of member services;
• Oversees the timely preparation of annual employees' statements for income tax purposes;
• Monitors and evaluates the performances of the Accounting Supervisor and Administrative Assistant;
• Prepares developmental plans for the Accounts Supervisor and other direct reports and oversees its implementation.

Administrative Leadership:
• Oversee administrative functions, including facilities management, procurement, human resources and IT support.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to optimize value in each of the assigned functional areas.
• Ensure effective record-keeping and document management systems are in place for each assigned function that falls under the purview of this portfolio.
• Lead, manage and support initiatives to improve organizational standards, policies and procedures.
• Any other related function as assigned by the General Manager.


Required Education and Experience:
• Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Related Field
• Professional accounting designation (ACCA, CIMA, CGA, CMA, CPA) would be an asset
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role
• Good Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

* Range 15k - 20k
* Travel 1k
