Manager - Corporate Communications - Job ID# 14306

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE 

  • Manages the overall strategic communication and CSR portfolios of the organization by overseeing the development, implementation and alignment of the strategic communication policies, programmes, and services that support NGC’s mission and objectives. 
  • Direct oversight of the management of corporate partnerships, philanthropic contributions, events, projects, community-based initiatives and coordinating the resolution of all reputational issues and risks. 
  • Develops the organization’s internal and external communications strategy, using a variety of media to promote the organisation both locally, regionally and internationally.
  • Implements an integrated set of public relations and communications approaches to manage company reputation and image, ensuring that the main messages of the President and the Board are communicated and in sync with the national mandate.

FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees the development of a consistent corporate brand messaging strategy for NGC that is reflected and consistent with NGC’s branding and strategic messaging activities. 
  • Oversees the sustainability and brand communications strategy of NGC, using a variety of print, digital and other media to promote NGC both locally, regionally, and internationally. 
  • Develops and establishes a brand identity system to facilitate maintenance of standards within the company. 
  • Oversees the monitoring and analysis of industry trends to adjust/enhance NGC’s positioning and messaging required. 
  • Oversees the development and implementation of a communications framework to allow for effective use of technology which drives a team of professionals in reporting on communication, sustainability, and brand metrics to aid in effective decision making. 
  • Develops and implements a robust strategy of partnership, stakeholder relations, sustainability, standards and practices that elicits, as well as promotes the ethos and business continuity of the organization.  
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure proper dissemination of communication and public education services of the organisation. 
  • Advances an interactive and technologically based digital media to build communication between the organisation, the group and all stakeholders. 
  • Supports in emergency disaster management communication to ensure planned outcomes are achieved according to standard protocol. 
  • Oversees the evaluation and reporting on partnerships, sponsorships and contributions, agreement/MOU/MOA/sponsorship/partnership agreements management inclusive of tax benefits for the company through philanthropy engagements and activities. 
  • Establishes a network with key external stakeholders to build relations with large customers to foster openness and willingness to share information.
  • Manages tangibles such as publications, e-newsletters and websites, as well as traditional printings and digital printings to control and improve reputation with all stakeholders.
  • Engages in strategies for the implementation of NGC’s sustainability programmes to prepare communities to be self-sufficient. 
  • Oversees and manages relations that continuously seek to build relationships with key media to ensure that accurate messages and content are delivered to maintain and promote NGC’s image. 
  • Develops and implements corporate communications metrics, including media ratings and ensures regular review of analytics to assess the impact of specific communications objectives. 
  • Conducts media relations training for executives, management and the group to develop skills and identify opportunities to strategically utilise the media to promote and communicate NGC’s message and the pivotal role the company plays in the economy. 
  • Executes any other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • First degree in Communications or related degree 
  • Post graduate degree in Strategic Communication, Sustainability, Mass Communications, MBA or equivalent post graduate qualification
  • Seven (7) years management experience in a corporate communications environment of which five (5) years must be at a leadership level. 
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the energy industry

OR

  • Master’s in communication or equivalent Post Graduate certification 
  • Ten (10) years related experience in corporate communications in the energy industry of which seven (7) years must be at a leadership level.
