MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (REFRIGERATION)

CORE PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Maintenance, the Maintenance Technician (Refrigeration) will ensure the operation of machinery and all equipment by completing preventative maintenance  requirements  on engines, motors,  pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications and troubleshooting malfunctions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, observe, and test climate control systems and refrigeration units
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems using precision measuring and testing instruments
• Troubleshoot refrigeration equipment failure; replace worn seals, outer shells and worn-out motors
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
• Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders and verifying receipt
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes hand and power tools examining form and texture of parts
• Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Aid Operations in running machines at standard speeds and centerline conditions to enhance productivity and efficiency

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• BSc. in Engineering/Electronics & Instrumentation/Refrigeration & Air Conditioning with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience

                                                                     or

           Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (focus on AC & Refrigeration) with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience

• Experience in refrigerated containers as well as split units
• HEART certification in Industrial Plant Maintenance would be an asset
• Experience in the food industry would be an asset

• Ability to work shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays
