Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep and repair of all machinery and equipment within the production line, including extrusion presses, ovens, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment, by performing preventative maintenance,
Key Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance:
Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for all extrusion equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, inspections, and component replacements.
Monitor equipment performance through data analysis and identify potential issues before they become major breakdowns.
Conduct routine inspections of machinery and tooling to detect wear and tear.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions on extrusion presses, hydraulic systems, electrical controls, pneumatic systems, and other plant equipment.
Perform necessary repairs and replacements of parts, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
Collaborate with engineering teams to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
Quality Control:
Ensure adherence to quality standards by monitoring production processes and identifying potential defects related to equipment malfunction.
Perform necessary adjustments to machinery to maintain consistent product quality.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols.
Identify and report potential safety hazards related to equipment.
Conduct safety training for maintenance team members.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair details, and parts inventory.
Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance costs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as applied to industrial machinery.
PLC Programming:Proficiency in reading and interpreting PLC logic for troubleshooting and maintenance of automated equipment.
Problem-solving:Ability to analyze complex mechanical issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
Maintenance Management:Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques and best practices
Blueprint Reading:Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
Safety Awareness:Commitment to safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment
Work Environment:
Industrial setting with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery.
May require working on rotating shifts and occasional overtime.
Physical demands include lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces
Skills needed
5-10 years’ experience
Experience in extrusion processes and process industry
Proven track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach.
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Customer-focused, with a drive to deliver high-quality results.
A proactive, “get it done” attitude with the ability to work independently and lead by example.
