The Port Authority of Jamaica wishes to recruit a MAINTENANCE ATTENDANT 2 at the Kingston Free Zone.

SALARY SCALE: $2,490,804.87 - $2,935,412.12 per annum.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for routine inspections and remedial action on the grounds, assigned streets, the general upkeep and maintenance of the roadways, landscaped areas and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• NCTVET or NVQ-J Level 2 in Building Maintenance PLUS
• Two years’ continuous experience in a similar capacity.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Regularly inspect all pipes to ensure there are no leakages and liaise with the Maintenance Officer to repair broken pipes at assigned locations.
• Maintain the:

-Green areas and flowering plants around buildings and open lots and trees along roadways internally and externally; cutting the green areas, mowing, and clearing lawns of cuttings and weeds.

-Internal or external curb-walls, sidewalk areas and ensure they are free of unwanted vegetation.

• Assist with carrying out minor painting, repairs, general carpentry and masonry work as directed by the Supervisor.
• Assist with daily physical patrol and inspection of premises.
• Monitor garbage collection sites and empty at regular intervals.
• Coordinate and assist with:

-Garbage disposal for the factories within the Zone. Pick up, package and dispose of trash and debris (discarded lunch boxes, bottles, scraps etc.). Deposit in the skips and drums provided before departure at 3:00 p.m.

-The proper cleaning of drains to prevent flooding of buildings and roadways.

• Provides Supervision for the following:

-Prune trees, trim and maintain hedges, beds and other established vegetation on the compound.

-Remove all leaves, cuttings and other spoils that accrue on the Zones and deposit same at the relevant municipal disposal site on a daily basis.

-Sweep roadways and clean lawns daily Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

-Assist in the preparation of the buildings for new clients.
