Loss Prevention & Security Officer

Job Summary: The incumbent will report to the Loss Prevention and Security Manager and will be responsible for assisting with safeguarding the company’s assets, ensuring the physical security of the property, and preventing loss or theft. This role involves monitoring surveillance footage, managing vehicle movements, performing building inspections, ensuring all activities are accurately logged and guarding entry and exit points.

Some of the key duties of this role include:

  • Patrolling the company’s premises to ensure that it is safe for all stakeholders (customers, staff, suppliers, etc).
  • Maintaining up to date logs of relevant records and activities.
  • Ensuring customer vehicles are properly checked off using the assigned checklists upon entering and leaving the property.
  • Ensuring all company vehicles not assigned to staff, customer’s vehicles taken on property and all new vehicles leaving the property are accompanied by a Gate Pass issued by the authorized Manager.
  • Giving direction and assistance to customers, visitors, and staff, as required.
  • Ensuring parts leaving the parts hub are properly checked and verified by a Purchase Order and Gate Pass or the requisite documentation accounting for the items.
  • Preventing unauthorized access to Parts Warehouses and monitoring movement of parts from any warehouse and compound.
  • Ensuring all containers received are properly inspected for false compartments, tampered safety seals and that goods received matches what is on the supplier’s Invoice.
  • Assisting with emergency evacuation in the event of natural disasters.
  • Assisting with fire drills and resetting the fire alarm in the event it is activated.
  • Checking the compound in the nights to ensure that it is properly lit, and all lights are in working condition and reporting any anomalies.
  • Reporting all incidents observed at post or on the property to the Team Lead.
  • Writing reports on incidents observed whilst on duty and submitting same to the Team Lead.
  • Accounting for all keys and ensuring that issued keys are properly documented, signed for by the receiving party (ies) with their name(s) clearly written in the logbook.
  • Activating security systems in buildings after closing hours, where applicable.
  • Locking doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings and property.
  • Answering alarms and investigating disturbances
  • Reporting all visitation to premises during non-working hours.
  • Monitoring close circuit cameras and reporting discrepancies observed and recording in CCTV Logbooks as required
  • Performing duties in adherence to all relevant legislation to include the Data Protection Act (2023).

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Must be physically and medically fit, able to stand, walk and monitor surveillance systems for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings and nights, as required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs, if necessary.
  • Be able to provide TRN, NIS, Birth Certificate and valid National I.D and a clean police Record.
  • Knowledge of security operations, procedures, and public safety.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with security equipment (e.g., surveillance cameras, alarm systems, two-way radios).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred but not a mandatory required).
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
