Lead Technician

The Lead Technician manages daily operations of the technician team, ensuring efficiency, compliance with standards and HSSE policies, task management via EROs, technical problem-solving, team training, and professionalism, while completing reports and addressing operational challenges.

Job Purpose:

The Lead Technician oversees daily operations of the technician team, ensuring tasks are completed in line with company and brand standards while maintaining efficiency and productivity. The role requires strict compliance with operational and administrative guidelines, including the Company’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) policies and protocols. Familiarity with the Company’s Dealer Management System is essential, and completing mandatory online training within specified timeframes is a key requirement. The position demands a high level of professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely attendance, adhering to the company’s administrative guidelines, with a start time of 7:45 a.m. at the designated workstation.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with the technician team.
• Assign tasks to Technicians using Electronic Repair Orders (EROs) and supervise the team to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with company standards and specified repair timelines.
• Verify that all jobs listed on the EROs are completed and address any unresolved repairs, ensuring substandard work is corrected before vehicle release.
• Track "comeback jobs" and collaborate with Technicians to understand and resolve issues, keeping the Service Manager informed as needed.
• Refer jobs requiring additional time or parts to Service Advisors.
• Utilize diagnostic tools to perform technical work and escalate complex issues to the Assistant Service Manager or Service Manager in their absence.
• Provide technical assistance and support to Technicians as needed.
• Notify the Assistant Service Manager of delays in spare parts or other items necessary for repairs or servicing.
• Secure and tag all warranty parts for proper storage.
• Assist in road testing vehicles with customers when necessary.
• Coordinate with the Assistant Service Manager to ensure Technicians complete their online training per brand guidelines.
• Document and report any technical or operational challenges to the Assistant Service Manager for resolution.
• Adhere to all HSSE protocols and ensure team compliance with safety measures.
• Prepare and submit various operational reports.
• Lead Tool Box Meetings to discuss ongoing work and improvements.
• Perform any additional duties as required by the role.
• Properly log in and out using the biometric system at the start and end of the business day.

Requirements:

• Minimum of three (3) CXC subjects, including English and Mathematics.
• Certification as an A-Class Automobile Technician.
• At least five (5) years of hands-on experience in automotive repairs.
• Strong technical knowledge of motor vehicle systems.
• Proficiency with computers and technical systems.
• A valid Trinidad and Tobago driver’s license.
