The Land Surveyor is a senior team member of the Estates Department and will be responsible for complying with the Land Surveyors Act Chp. 58:04 Act 33 of 1996 and in particular Part V – Trinidad and Tobago Land Surveyors.

A. POSITION PURPOSE:

The Land Surveyor is a senior team member of the Estates Department and will be responsible for complying with the Land Surveyors Act Chp. 58:04 Act 33 of 1996 and in particular Part V – Trinidad and Tobago Land Surveyors. As the Licensed Trinidad and Tobago Land Surveyor (TTLS) at EMBD, you will execute the work of the department using best practices to provide the results needed.

 

B. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Surveying Data and Collection

  • Conducts surveys on land sites and properties.
  • Performs construction stake-outs and boundary surveys.
  • Produces drawings from raw survey data through the finished project.
  • Assists in the preparation of land development plans.
  • Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Develops new data from photogrammetric records.
  • Examines previous records and evidence to ensure data accuracy.
  • Prepares descriptions of areas surveyed and updates descriptions of land boundaries.
  • Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
  • Coordinates findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel, contractors, and others concerned with the project.
  • Obtains statutory and regulatory approvals towards timely approval of the survey process.

 

Planning and Designing

  • Researches and designs methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey processes and control.
  • Builds maps, sketches, and charts and maintains and updates records for accuracy and ensures proper storage.
  • Reviews all drawings and other contract documents and demonstrates a thorough understanding for implementation.

 

Coordination and Communication

  • Issues instructions to contractors and ensures ongoing effective communication from/and with contractors.
  • Liaises with the office of the Director of Surveys towards the timely approval of Survey Plans.
  • Communicates all the above information to the Estates Manager on a timely basis.
  • Maintains equipment and vehicles ensuring planned servicing and proper functionality.
  • Manages and provides guidance to field staff and their work performance.

D. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIOURAL AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:                                                           

Qualifications: Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying.
  • Valid License/Registered to practice Land Surveying in Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Certificate in AutoCAD or equivalent qualification in a related discipline.

Experience: Desired

  • Seven (7) years’ experience in a similar position with at least five (5) years’ supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Public Sector/State Enterprise will be considered an asset.

Behavioural Competencies: Desired

  • Experience in supervising field staff.
  • Sound working relationships with Government Agencies.

Technical Competencies: Desired

  • Knowledge of GIS software and operations.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD software.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
