The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the supervision of the laboratory operation to ensure specimens are received, tested, and reported in accordance to established best practices.
General Duties
Verify that all of the following responsibilities are properly performed:
Process and analyze specimens within documented turnaround times and quality standards defined in laboratory manuals and industry best practice / established guidelines.
Ensure that documented quality control procedures are followed, test results are checked where technically appropriate, and results are reported correctly.
Workload planning and day to day supervision of laboratory personnel performing testing.
Provides direction and support to all Lab Medica Group personnel with regards to laboratory matters even at remote locations.
Ensure that all clinically abnormal test results are communicated and sent promptly to the requesting clinician orclient.
Ensure that equipment and work areas where the staff is working have enough stocks of reagent consumable and supply items for normal operations.
Provide guidance to Laboratory Workers as necessary whilst testing is in progress.
Resolving technical problems and ensuring remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Ensuring machines are calibrated and maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
Quality Assurance Control Duties
Participate and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Quality Management Systems viz, ISO 15189 requirements.
Ensure that proper quality control is performed at all bench levels.
Ensure that quality control results are properly analyzed using established methods such as Westgard Rules
Ensure that remedial actions are taken and documented whenever significant deviations from the norms arise.
Participate in External Proficiency Testing programs of the laboratory.
Participate in any Quality Audits such as ISO15189 accreditation requirements.
Communication and Key Relationships
To foster and demonstrate clear and open communication with staff at all levels.
To ensure that instructions from Upper Management are clearly understood and communicated to other staff where necessary.
Key issues are escalated to President -CEO or General Manager or any designate where appropriate. For example, significant assay and instrument problems, HR disciplinary issues, Comprised Results & Quality Issues, Customer Complaints,
To foster and demonstrate excellent customer care and support (Physicians, Patients and Clients)
Supervision and Training
To participate in staff training programs such as CE units and sessions.
To assist with staff training in the routine use and maintenance of equipment, test methods and procedures.
To supervise any work carried out by all lab staff including trainees or on the job training.
Teamwork
To work co-operatively and supportively withstaff in all departments or clinics of the Lab Medica Group.
Health, Safety & Hygiene

Workplace hazards are identified and reported, including self-management of hazards.

| Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or its equivalent. |
Experience | Five years’ experience in a General Laboratory Settings practicing:
