GCG Trinidad is seeking to fill the role of Kitchen Assistant/ General Assistant in the Production Department. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the catering and manufacturing process by performing such related duties as general food preparation and meal assembly.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  1. To perform meal assembly or vegetable preparation activities to ensure meals are prepared according to the required client standard and quantities in a timely manner.
  2. Inspects, cleans, sort, wash/sanitize and rinse vegetables /raw material, ensuring adherence of quality compliance is maintained.
  3. Ensures accurate and efficient storage of items through proper labeling of item content, packaging, and storage units.
  4. Prepares raw ingredients / cooked food in components required for meals in accordance with standardized specifications; ensuring client quantity and weight requirements are met and quality surpassed.
  5. Manages the retrieval and return of containers and other equipment needed for assembly from the Equipment and Sanitation Departments.     
  6. Practices the required quality control procedures (HACCP) in the storage and processing of raw materials and or finished products.  Maintains a sanitary workspace and equipment.
  7. Complete temperature records with accurate information on a timely basis. On a need’s basis, even during food prep and assembly.
  8. Ensure catering is completed in a timely manner and properly labeled and stored in the holding chiller to maintain proper temperatures. 
  9. Comply with Lean Manufacturing Process to promote efficiency and productivity and create an environment for continuous improvement.
  10. 10. Participate in the Company’s mandatory monthly stock count exercise.  
  11. Be aware of and comply with all HSE rules and regulations inclusive of PPE, HACCP and Food Safety and Hygiene.
Qualifications & Skills
  • CXC O’ level Certificate with at least Grades I or II General Proficiency in English Language and Mathematics
  • At least one (1) years’ experience working in a team-oriented environment.
  • At least one (1) years’ experience working in the food service industry.
  • Able to communicate in English orally and in writing.
