Junior Investigator

SUPERVISION RECEIVED FROM: Senior Investigator
SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: NIL
JOB PURPOSE
Conduct investigations as directed and monitors companies’ compliance with the beneficial ownership requirements under the Companies Act and other applicable laws and regulations and to escalate any red flags/issues to the Senior Investigator as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal Working Hours Monday to Thursday 8:30 – 5:00
Friday 8:30 – 4:00
Work Environment Normal office conditions. Requires some travelling.

Risk of encountering dangerous criminal elements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
▪ Performs risk-based assessments by conducting interviews.
▪ Maintain compliance database and physical files to ensure that information is accurate and current.
▪ Provides ongoing monitoring of non-compliance.
▪ Refers complex investigations involving red flags indicative of potential fraud, money laundering and other suspicious activity to the Senior Investigator.
▪ Research and verify the accuracy of information obtained through referrals and in the context of investigations.
▪ Cooperates with law enforcement authorities to respond to questions and inquiries of suspicious activity in customer transactions and registration of entities as directed by the Senior Investigator.
▪ Investigate potentially suspicious activity and on risk mitigation activities in collaboration with other units as directed.
▪ Develops and delivers approved presentations and outreach workshops geared towards increasing AML/CFT awareness amongst the supervised entities.
▪ Sensitises employees on the Agency’s AML programs, policies, and procedures.
▪ Liaises with business units for enquiries.
▪ Suggests improvements in processes to the Senior Investigator.
▪ Prepares suspicious transactions/activity reports (STRs) and other written investigative/intelligence products to support unit decisions.
▪ Serves as a liaison with relevant law enforcement and regulatory authorities in relation to AML and Fraud matters as directed by the Senior Investigator.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
▪ Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Business Administration/Management/Law/Paralegal Studies.
▪ AML/CFT Certification desirable.
▪ Certified Fraud Examiner designation would be an asset.
▪ At least one years’ related working experience in either law enforcement, financial or legal services field.
