The Investment Officer is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the investment registers of the company and its subsidiaries and analyzing and reporting on the performance of the portfolio’s performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To accurately record all investment activity to the investment register daily. This includes purchases, disposals, investment income and valuation changes.
  • To accurately record all investment activity to the general ledger daily.
  • To accurately record monthly changes in valuations and accruals to the general ledger within stipulated timeless.
  • To reconcile the investment register with external custodian reports monthly.
  • To reconcile the investment register balances and transactions with the general ledger monthly.
  • To prepare monthly management reports on the performance and activity of the investment portfolios.
  • To update assigned daily reports reflecting investment activity.
  • To prepare quarterly reports on the performance and activity of the investment portfolios for the Boards of Directors and respective Committees.
  • To prepare monthly reconciliations and schedules within stipulated deadlines.
  • To prepare amortization and effective interest rate schedules for applicable investments.
  • To prepare monthly and quarterly variance analyses against budget.
  • To assist with budget preparation by providing input on the investment climate and providing the calculations on the estimated performance of the portfolios.
  • To keep up to date on developments within the local, regional, and international markets which impact the portfolios.
  • To assist with the updating of the investment register as required to allow for increased efficiencies in the reporting and analytical processes.
  • To support the Finance Manager in the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures as it pertains to investment activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Pursuing Level 1 CFA or equivalent or Level II of a Professional Accounting Qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CMA.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar capacity

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, and in IT systems in general.
  • Possesses a positive and proactive attitude in the workplace.
  • Self-motivated and able to adhere to deadlines.
  • Highly organized approach to work and ability to multi–task and prioritize effectively with demonstrable ability to work on own initiative.
  • Flexibility in line with business requirements.
  • Reliable as well as a person of Integrity.
  • Ability to work well with little supervision.
