JOB TITLE:                          INSURANCE & COMPLIANCE OFFICER (Corporate, Personnel & Fleet)

JOB DESCRIPTION:             Oversee the Company’s overall insurance portfolio. Ensure complete coverage for all categories of the Company’s business. Working directly with insurance providers and brokers to obtain optimal and cost-effective insurance solutions for the Company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Management of the Company’s Motor Fleet and Small Equipment Inventory:

  1. Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date database of all the Company’s fleet of assets, including small equipment, and the management of the Equipment Module in our financial and asset management system (SAGE).
  2. Manage the Company’s motor vehicle and equipment fleet, ensuring adequate and up-to-date market valuation, insurance coverage, licenses and fitness (where applicable) are in place.
  3. Oversee and manage the Advance Gas Card arrangement for the Company’s motor vehicle fleet in accordance with contracted terms and Company policy.
  4. Lead and manage the insurance claim process, including the timely submission of accident reports to all stakeholders, (e.g. police, and insurance company), through to the finalization of the insurance claim negotiation and settlement.
  5. Maintain motor vehicle titles and effect transfers and new registrations.
  6. Ensure motor vehicle tracking systems are current.
  7. Coordinate with the Equipment Services Department to conduct periodic physical audit of the motor fleet and small equipment inventory.
  8. Representing the Company at insurance claims mediation meetings.

Human Resources

  1. Liaise with the relevant stakeholders (Project Managers, Human Resources, Payroll) to ensure the timely enrollment of eligible Employees under the Company’s Masterbuilders’ Life Insurance Plan, and Contractors Health Insurance Plan.
  2. Oversee the management of the Company’s health insurance policy, including assessing health insurance coverage, insurance plan costs and potential options, renewals, and making recommendations for improvements.
  3. Ensure monthly Health and Group Life invoices are received, verified and paid in a timely manner, address and resolve related issues that arise.
  4. Manage the timely collection of health cards from the Company’s health care providers, and the distribution to employees as required.
  5. Liaise with respective stakeholders, including Employees, Dependents, Human Resource Department, and insurance company to ensure issues, claims, etc. are addressed and resolved in a timely manner by the service provider.

Management of the Company’s Corporate Insurance 

  1. Oversee the company’s corporate insurance portfolio, which includes but is not limited to: (a) Property, (b) General Liability, (c) Director’s Liability, (d) Peril/Fire and (e) Contractors All Risks.
  2. Liaise with Project Managers, the General Manager, Project Planning Division and other key personnel to ensure adequate insurance coverage is in place on all current projects.
  3. Liaise directly with insurance brokers/companies to ensure complete and effective coverage for the company’s businesses.
  4. Assess insurance financing options and make recommendations to optimize insurance premium financing (IPF) opportunities.
  5. Oversee and manage the Company’s insurance premium financing (IPF) agreements, and ensure they are kept up to date.
  6. Conduct periodic assessments (at least biannually) on the Company’s insurance portfolio to assess adequacy, and effectiveness, and make recommendations to management for greater effectiveness, risk-cost optimization, and improvements.

Personal Accident

  1. Oversee the management of the company’s Personal Accident Insurance.
  2. Prepare, submit and follow through on accident reports, also liaising with the company’s safety personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of required documentation and processes to ensure compliance of the Company’s fleet (from purchase and throughout the life of each item)
  • Proper organization to ensure renewals are completed in a timely manner
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and prior experience in the insurance industry would be an asset
  • Strong work ethics, organized, excellent leadership abilities combined high emotional intelligence
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent and energetic team player
  • Detail oriented, results driven, confident and forward-thinking 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Projects, PowerPoint etc.)

 EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience within the insurance industry
