Job Description

 

POSITION TITLE:

Information Technology Coordinator

(Contract Position)

POSITION GRADE:

Grade 2 (a)

DEPARTMENT:

Human Resources and Administration

REPORTS TO (JOB TITLE):

The position reports to:

A. POSITION PURPOSE:

The Information Technology Coordinator reports to the HR & Administration Manager and will be responsible for company-wide information, telecommunication and technologies, managing, securing and maintaining all computer support systems, software, hardware and other peripheral equipment and services to enable EMBD to have accurate and reliable information systems and to function with maximum levels of efficiency at all of EMBD’s locations.

 

B. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Device and Equipment Management

  • Track and manage all devices and equipment while conducting quarterly integrity checks on verification of all items.
  • Track and manage all devices using consolidated memorandum receipts and SharePoint while conducting quarterly verification of all items.
  • Repair and/or replace motherboards, Ethernet cards, and any other parts needed to maintain server operation.
  • Recommend the purchase of all computer hardware and peripheral equipment by the Company.

 

Software and Systems Management

  • Work with a team comprising of internal staff and external agencies’ representatives in developing the IT road map and digitization programme.
  • Review all computerized software: accounting systems for payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable and payable, land management databases, Microsoft Office, and other specialized software used by the organization.
  • Update and maintain company intranet and publicly viewed company website.
  • Conduct review of computerized assets for the preparation of annual budgets and ensure that budgetary requirements are requested to avoid breakdowns or downtime of software and hardware.
  • Implement and manage all organizational security measures, cryptographic equipment, and communications security keying material.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain an effective disaster recovery plan.

 

Project Management and Technical Support

  • Promote from a desktop support specialist role into a more prominent project manager position ensuring proper system functionality.
  • Provide project management and leadership skills to senior management for successful application implementation and transition to enterprise applications.
  • Ensure all critical actions are coordinated and properly executed to provide a cohesive approach to integrating logistics support requirements.
  • Identify, prioritize, and resolve report problems including data, account administration, desktop hardware/software, application issues, and other equipment.
  • Prepare reports on all repairs and maintenance work carried out, as required.

D. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIOURAL AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:                                                           

Qualifications: Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.

Experience: Desired

  • Five (5) years’ experience in computer operations with hands on experience in an IT environment.
  • Experience in Public Sector/State Enterprise IT Administration and a Post Graduate Degree in Information Systems or Project Management will be considered an asset.

Behavioural Competencies: Desired

  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve network hardware and software problems and make recommendations for system changes and improvements.
  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior organization skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Technical Competencies: Desired

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including networks, servers and storage systems.
  • Knowledge of IT security practices such as user access control, data protection to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems and data.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.
  • Understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, LAN/WAN configurations and how to monitor network performance.
