This position focuses on defining IT business problems, gathering technical and non-technical information, and outlining requirements for solutions. Responsibilities include process mapping, data analysis, and testing.

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary focus of this dynamic position is to define business problems via in-depth investigation and gathering of technical and non-technical information. The IT Business Analyst will be responsible for outlining detailed requirements for a technical solution and ensure the delivered solution meets the business requirements. The position holder will often engage on IT and business transformation projects but can be expected to work closely with other departments. Key duties include process mapping, data analysis, solution design, stakeholder communication, and project execution. The successful candidate will also assist in testing and validation, risk management, and providing training and support to end-users. This role is critical in ensuring that IT initiatives are efficient, effective, and meet the evolving needs of the business.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gathering, validating, and documenting business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Creating detailed process maps to understand and improve business workflows.
  • Performing gap analyses where required.
  • Modeling business processes using software tools and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Identifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts.
  • Creating functional specifications for solutions. ▪ Estimating costs and identifying business savings.
  • Supporting the planning, execution and monitoring of IT projects to ensure timely delivery.
  • Simplifying information and deciphering technical jargon so it is easily understood by the whole team. 
  • Following the company’s implementation policy, ensuring user acceptance testing is conducted prior to rolling out new solutions.
  • Continual engagement with various departments to determine the effectiveness of new technologies and processes.
  • Work with vendors, departments and IT to ensure new releases and enhancements are planned, tested and implemented accordingly.
  • Facilitate training and handover of technical solutions.
  • Ensure processes are documented, maintained, distributed and versioned appropriately. 
  • Serve as a liaison between business units and the IT department to ensure clear communication is maintained. 
  • Supporting business transition and helping to manage changes to business processes and IT systems. 
  • Aid in the budgeting process for new technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb and move about.
  • Capability to frequently travel to other offices or sites to provide onsite support and/or participate in project work when required.

 

EDUCATION/ KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science or related field.
  • A combination of the following, or related certifications would be an asset: CAP, CBDA, CFLBA, PBA, BIDA, SAP Certified Specialist, Tableau Certified Data Analyst, Microsoft Certified PowerBI Data Analyst.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a business analysis role.
  • A passion for client service, efficiency, effectiveness, precision and quality.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make appropriate independent decisions, work independently, prioritize own tasks, and tasks of others.
  • Possess personal drive and initiative regarding career growth.
  • Demonstrates integrity both at and outside of work.
  • Maintain a professional manner and appearance in the workplace.
  • Ability to manage projects and implement plans on a timely basis.
  • Ability to handle issues involving confidentiality and discretion in a mature professional manner.
  • Ability to assess and provide accurate, positive, and constructive feedback for the Business Intelligence team.
  • Understand the business’ long-term strategy and how business processes and utilizing data contributes to achieving those goals.
  • Ability to use business modeling tools such as IPO, Gantt, BPMN, UML, Value stream mapping etc.
  • Experience using tools such as SAP Business Objects, QlikSense, TIBCO, PowerBI, Tableau etc.
  • Strong understanding of business drivers evidenced by ability to quickly set and adjust priorities.
  • Willingness to comply with established directives, policies, and best practices.
