Providing support to the Manager – Regional HR and AVP in executing and managing the Company’s employee relations objectives.

JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the Manager – Regional HR and AVP in executing and managing the Company’s employee relations objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective coordination of the employee relations Program in the pursuit of promoting good labour practices and harmonious relations between management, employees and other stakeholders.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Labour Relations:
  • Supports management and the IR consultant/s on all Industrial Relations matters including matters at RRCB, conciliation and arbitration matters at the Ministry of Labour and the Industrial Court.
  • Updates and maintain records, including Labour Laws and Industrial court judgments.
  • Provides advice/guidance in resolving/handling grievances and disputes.
  • Conducts investigations and participates in disciplinary hearings.
  • Supports in the drafting an reviewing of Evidence and Arguments.
  • Researches and gathers data for Industrial Relations matters.
  • Prepares investigative reports, minutes from disciplinary hearings etc.

 

  1. Union Negotiations:
  • Liaises with the Executive Branch of the Union and BIGWU representatives.
  • Researches and gathers data for negotiations.
  • Participates in negotiations and in the implementation of the Collective Agreement.
  • Co-ordinates and arranges relevant venue/s for the meetings and dispatches communications to Line Managers and participants in all negotiation’s meetings.

 

  1. I.R. Training:
  • Conducts and coordinates I.R. Training for managers and Supervisors.
  • Provides advice/guidance in resolving/handling grievances and disputes.
  • Updates and maintains records, including Labour Laws and Industrial court judgments.        

      

  1. Time and Attendance Admin:
  • Generates Time and Attendance Reports within agreed timelines and provide analysis and recommendations as required
  • Maintains the Time and Attendance System in the absence of the Human Resources Analyst.
  • Ensures the disbursement of employee access cards and any other system requirements including the polling of clocks in the absence of the Human Resources Analyst.

 

  1. HR Processes and Policies
  • Assists in the review, development and implementation of HR policies and processes, and provide recommendations for updating in line with HR Best Practice.
  • Delivers training and coordinate relevant workshops relating to policy rollouts and other related topics.
  1. Executive Reports:
  • Contributes to the preparation of the monthly Caribbean Business Review.
  • Contributes to the preparation of the Quarterly Board Reports.
  • Assists with the preparation of Ad Hoc HR Reports.
  1. On the Job Injury (Workmen’s Compensation):
  • Co-ordinates the preparation of Incident forms upon learning of a workplace accident.
  • Advises both the Occupational Safety & Health Agency and the Insurance provider of any reported workplace accident.
  • Provides employees with guidance on the compensation payment process.
  • Liaises with the provider seeking reimbursement for medical and other related payment.
  • Maintains records of all workplace accidents.
  1. Other
  • Assists in the implementation of Human Resources projects.
  • Assists with the Leave Management process, as and when required.
  • Assists with the recruitment process as and when required.

 

 


QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Law or a related discipline
  • Diploma in Industrial Relations.
  • HR certification (SHRM, CIPD) or Change Management certification. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years’ Human Resources experience.
  • Three (3) years’ Industrial Relations experience in a unionised environment.
  • Experience in developing training materials and delivering training.
  • Experience in the Insurance or Financial industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of Industrial Relations principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Labour Legislation in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Cayman, Eastern Caribbean Islands and Dutch Caribbean Islands.
  • Knowledge of functional HR.
  • High competence in Performance Management.
  • High competence in Training and Development.
