The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, skilled and highly motivated individual with great interpersonal and communication skills to join our Human Resources Team.  The Human Resources Manager will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and enhancing the overall employee experience. 

 

Under the direction of the Head of People|Director of Human Resources, the HR Manager will collaborate with the leadership team and engage with our 600 Crane Brand Ambassadors to align HR practices with the goals and values of the organisation.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Manager will oversee key HR functions and manage the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department.   You will be specifically responsible for the following areas:

 

  • Providing leadership for the human resources team and collaborating with the human resources training team to support onboarding, employee and leadership development
  • Implementing and upholding HR policies and procedures
  • Recruitment & hiring
  • Fostering positive employee relations
  • Advisor for conflict resolution and implementation of performance improvement plans
  • Conducting workplace investigations
  • Coaching and counseling employees and leaders
  • Disciplinary process and compliance with the Employment Right's Act
  • Maintaining up-to-date personal and departmental knowledge of employment laws to ensure HR practices are legally compliant
  • Managing HR information systems
  • Workplace safety & health and accident prevention
  • Performance management practices
  • Weekly and monthly payroll completion
  • Compensation & benefit administration
  • Implementation and administration of career development & succession planning programs
  • Employee engagement events and programs
  • Developing and overseeing an absence program to improve employee attendance
  • Administering employee experience surveys and supporting implementation of initiatives for improvement.

Additionally, you will be involved in the short-term and long-term planning of all HR related functions.  Because we are a 24/7 operation, your schedule may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in Human Resources management and human resources practices, (preferably, but not limited to the hospitality industry).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an HR leadership role, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop competent HR department team members.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working knowledge of HR practices or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Very proficient in use of computer technology, Microsoft Office and other HR-related software.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Barbados Employment Legislation and local HR customs and practice.
  • Strong background and experience in managing employee relations, benefits, wages, and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the management team and to make meaningful contributions to overall company leadership and direction.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written communication skills required with the ability to work well in a multi-generational work environment.
  • A related bachelor's degree may be considered an asset in combination with experience.
  • Flexible schedule allowing for working on weekends, evenings and holidays as may be required.
