We are looking for an experienced housekeeper and/or houseman with exposure to food & beverage service who will keep our facilities spotlessly clean, well maintained and are also able to assist in the food & beverage service as required. This position is located in Portland, Jamaica.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertaking a range of daily cleaning activities including sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping and polishing surfaces;
• Inspecting bedrooms and communal areas (entrances, patios, walkways, hallways, restrooms, spa, gym and others) to ensure they are tidy and well maintained;
• Cleaning all patio furnishings, pool cushions and chairs – securing these indoors especially during the rain and when accommodation is not occupied;
• Performing regular inventory checks in communal areas and replacing consumables when required;
• Carrying out laundry services and changing of bed linen, including ironing and pressing;
• Protecting and maintaining cleaning equipment and reporting any damage to the House Manager;
• Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times;
• Ensuring public areas are free of obstacles and hazards that may cause injury or inconvenience;
• Removing waste from public spaces and ensuring that all garbage bins are emptied regularly;
• Preparing and serving drinks, coffee, tea, shakes, classic cocktails etc. upon request;
• Ensuring that kitchenware is clean, well maintained and properly stored;
• Ensuring that Bar areas are clean and drinkware is clean and neatly packed away in their respective places;
• Be readily available to serve at mealtime if required;
• Any other duties assigned.

Required Competencies, Qualifications and Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a housekeeper/houseman in the hospitality industry (preferably a five star or five diamond establishment);
• Must have HEART/NTA Certification or from another recognized training institution;
• Knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and methods, including cleaning of sensitive materials;
• Knowledge of antiques, fabric, wood, household furnishings and their care;
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds;
• Thorough and pays attention to details;
• Honest, loyal, trustworthy and professional in personal conduct. Has impeccable integrity and dignity;
• Communicates well, is organized, shows initiative and is able to work with minimal supervision;
• Possess excellent listening skills and works well in teams;
• Very flexible with time;
• Able to follow and adhere to policies and standard operating procedures;
• Possession of a valid Food Handlers Permit an asset;
• Knowledge of food preparation, food service, beverage service, cleaning food sanitation processes and products considered an asset;
• Cook/Bartender/Server experience with the corresponding certifications would be an asset.
