The HR and Payroll Assistant is responsible for supporting the HR and payroll functions within the organization. This role involves processing payroll, maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:

 

  • Assist in preparing and processing payroll for employees accurately and on time.  
  • Maintain payroll records, including timesheets, leave balances, and deductions.  
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, benefits, and other deductions, and company policies.  
  • Address employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.  
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrolment, changes and cancellations.
  • Assist with recruitment, including posting job openings, screening candidates, and scheduling interviews.  
  • Help with new employee onboarding and orientation programs
  • Assist in tracking attendance, leave management, and performance records.  
  • Assist in maintaining HR files, personnel records, and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection laws.  
  • Coordinate HR-related events and activities, such as employee engagement, training and recognition events. 
  • Support HR policies and procedures implementation.  
  • Handle confidential employee information with discretion.  
  • Any other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.  
  • Experience in payroll processing and HR functions preferred.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and HRIS systems.  
  • Strong knowledge of labour laws and payroll regulations.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other related software applications.
  • Valid food handlers permit

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Strong initiative and the ability to plan and prioritize
  • Ability to be thorough and detailed in the execution of duties
  • Flexibility in working beyond normal working hours especially during payroll processing periods.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
