Primary objective of the job: 

 

As Group Consolidation Accountant you will be responsible for the monthly consolidations and sub-consolidations within the Digicel Group ensuring they are prepared on an accurate and timely basis for external and internal financial reporting, consolidations of multiple market sub-groups and providing support to the market finance teams. You will be the main contact person for consolidation activity across multiple markets, working with our Shared Service Centre, R2R teams and market Financial Controllers.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare monthly consolidation for adjusting, eliminating and recurring journals
  • Support the group consolidation manager in preparing the monthly group consolidation of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow at multiple consolidation levels for external reporting (actuals, budget and forecast)
  • Accurate accounting for dividends, loans, other intergroup transactions, minority interests, acquisition accounting, disposals and group restructuring
  • Responsible for ensuring all appropriate balances, transactions and cash flows eliminate on consolidation
  • Prepare subledger reconciliations and audit support for consolidation entries
  • Assist with the preparation of Budgets and Forecasts for Group holding companies
  • Assist with the completion of consolidated and sub-consol level balance sheet reviews providing analysis of key movements  
  • Participate in the preparation, review and delivery of diverse financial reports on a routine basis under IFRS, including consolidated financial statements and quarterly Lender reports
  • Completion of audit workbooks for consolidation journal level group reporting packs
  • Ensure that appropriate disclosures are made in external reports, and embed the collection of the required data into the close process
  • Facilitate the group and market audits, assist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities; ensure they are completed within deadlines with no surprises or material audit adjustments
  • Resolution of audit issues, control points and management letter recommendations
  • Identify and recommend “best practices”, continuing accounting policy improvements and drive adoption within the business
  • Participate on projects related to the finance transformation and support process improvements including adoption of new IFRS within core finance systems
  • Support month end and year end closing

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

 

  • Professional accounting qualification – CPA/ACCA or equivalent
  • 1 – 2 years’ post-qualified experience
  • Past audit experience, big four preferred
  • Workday accounting systems experience desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting, reporting and consolidation

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Strong Excel skills and ability to leverage off system data to aid analysis & improve data integrity
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Prior experience in a multi-location accounting environment desirable
  • A result oriented and customer focused mentality
  • A true team player with a proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong sense of urgency and able to work under pressure
  • Strong sense of continuous process improvement and simplification
